[The camera turns on and a man's standing there, in just a shirt and pants, looking somewhat awkward. Moriarty's been creepering and you guys now and he's...not really impressed. So you don't get Moriarty trying to get information. You get Jim.]

This is brilliant, really. Amazing. This looks just like my room back home. I guess that I should be a little scared of it, since it means that someone’s been watching me.

[As an aside:] Molly was right, though. It could use with a bit of colour.

[And then he turns serious.] But this place isn't right. Not really.

[And using those words, too. Jim now doesn't have to fake fascination.] That sounds so exciting.

It has its moments of excite, yes, though these are unfortunately separated by nearly endless chasms of the mundane and common.

I gather from your speech and style of dress you are from a later time period than myself, as many here are. I should place you around at least hundred years later than myself, following the turn of the millennium.

Two thousand and ten. [He raises a tinted eyebrow.]

And time is different here, too? [He looks shocked, like this is a revelation. It's not...]

There has been some debate on the subject. Ageing, reportedly, is stilled.

At the moment I give instruction in drawing and painting, though presently I will add vocal and instrumental music to those.

So you keep yourself busy to keep away the boredom?

No, I give lessons as an attempt to guide and enrich those present, as keeping with things to do has never been very effective at curing my boredom. Likewise, the police are never consistently effective in solving crime.

They never really are. That doesn't really change, no matter the time.

You are the first to present such an opinion, of all those from your time or near it, that I have met.

That's surprising. What do the others say about it?

I have mainly heard of the fantastic leaps and bounds by which it improved.

It's a lie. The police in my time allowed four people to die, in the exact same way, before discovering that they were murders, rather than suicides.
